Tackling Period Poverty
Imagine not having any sanitary protection, this is common place for the girls that we encounter in Tanzania. It is likely that you would just stay at home if you had your period in Tanzania. Thousands of young women are missing out on vital schooling due to the fact that they do not have access to reliable sanitary protection. and at Champion Chanzige this is something we like to address.
We are delighted to announce that we have been approached by a company called Wear’em Out. They make washable period pads. Like us, they are determined to try and make a difference to these girls lives and give them the basic resources they need to be able to attend school 100% of the time.
Wear ‘em Out have made a fantastic pledge to Champion Chanzige. For every starter pack that is bought from them they will donate one period pad. This is amazingly generous.
Given that we are all trying to be a little greener washable sanitary protection is becoming more common place and these period pads are getting fantastic reviews, last month alone Lauren at Wear ‘em Outsold 200 starter packs. For us that means 200 pads. If we were to give each girl three pads that will be 66 girls that Wear ‘em Out has helped in just one month. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
