Menstrual Hygiene, breaking the taboo!

Over the last three years we have been working to make sure that our MHM workshops are the best they can be. With the sad loss of our washable pad partner we had to look at ways of continuing this valuable work without pads to donate. After some research on the internet we came across Technical Absorbents Ltd, who manufacture highly absorbent fabric. They agreed to donate as much of their fabric as we could use and are also working on improving their product to fit our needs more effectively. WE now show the girls how to make their own pads, adding to their skill set and give them the confidence to pass what they have learnt onto their peers. We work with the parents and teachers as well as the students to try and break the taboo surrounding menstruation. During our four day workshops we also tackle other topics including child protection, children’s rights, sexual and reproductive health and early marriage and pregnancy.
